Door Security Locks

We wild camp quite a bit, often in pub car parks, layby's and remote wild locations.
Security at night is a big concern when doing so.
The thinking here was aimed at stories of intruders using scanners etc to scan the vehicle central locking system and unlock the van to easily gain access!
Not something you want when your sound asleep!!
Much thought went into this...
I opted for a set of Security door access deadlocks.  These are fitted into the van door frames and when activated throw a deadlock bolt into the side of the doors, thus securing the doors from being opened from outside the vehicle.  The additional benefit of this is its a total hard wired manual system that operates from switches inside the van.  This prevents electronic scanning etc from being able to unlock the doors.
The solenoids are 12v volt operated and usually used in security access doors in buildings etc.
5 of them left in the activated locked position for 10 hours only dropped a single 12v leisure battery 0.1 volts.

Cant think for the life of me why we wanted 5 locks?  we only have 4 door!

Oh well on with the fitting...
Fairly easy and straight forward, only two considerations, 1 getting a + wire to each lock and 2 ensuring there is enough space in the door piller to fit the depth of the lock body.

With the locks fitted in the door pillars all it needed was the small plate fitted to the opening door for the door lock barrel to locate into.

We have a single button switch to activate the door locks from the inside when we are going to bed, saves us having the hassles of securing the doors with the ratchet straps like we did before. One press of the button and the doors act like a second central locking system, only this system being completely manual and not affected by scanner etc cannot be opened by anyone outside the van.
(The control panel shown is only a tempy one at this time).
On the rear doors, in case of emergency exit we have fitted a cut off switch next to the door handle to cut the power to the rear door lock so we can exit out through the bedroom picture window and rear doors.
