For us we already had a 3M square garden sail which has decent fixing rings at each corner. Even more luckily the van has some beautifully spaced roof fixing T shaped studs which the sails corner rings fit over and stay well in place. I had to extend one corner about 12cm with a bit of webbing as the sail didnt quite reach.
Add two poles and guy lines and we have a very quick to erect and effective dead cheap awning!
